As you all know, I’m a huge Nintendo fan. I sat practically drooling at my television waiting for the huge new console announcement during last year’s E3 conference.

After clearing up the confusion of whether the WiiU was another controller attachment for the Wii or if it was truly a new console, I started to get excited again. And one of the biggest questions that comes to mind with a new console, especially a Nintendo console, is…

I Love This Show: Rozen Maiden

The day this anime because available to watch from Anime On Demand I was *so* happy.  I had been wanting to watch it for a years before I saw it.  I read the manga series as it was coming out and I died a little when it ended before it was over.

I love the relationship between Shinku and Jun.  It’s a hoot!  Yes, I said “hoot”.  Shinku, and for that matter, all of the Rozen Maiden dolls are just so adorably stuck up.  It’s fun to watch them act all high and mighty and then need to get help opening the door or something of the like.

Jun’s life is obviously far from satisfying at the start of the series.  And when Shinku, and soon the rest of the Rozen Maiden dolls, are drawn to him then his life makes a quick 180 in the other direction.  Much to the pleasure of Jun’s older sister, Nori.

Also, the soundtrack is absolutely amazing!  I could listen to the opening theme, closing theme and battle themes over and over again for an eternity.   “The Forbidden Game” by Ali Project is my personal favorite, but it’s all so good!

As much as I do love the series, I find it a real shame that my favorite character acts as the major villain.  ;_;  Poor Suigintou.

I Love This Show – Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt

And honestly, who doesn’t?  It a wonderful anime that parodies anime.  Genius!  Panty and Stocking themselves are such great characters themselves.  I love seeing cosplay of them!  Panty just likes to bang every cute guys she senses, and Stocking just wants to eat every sweet thing that exists on the planet.
And sure, when they fight they look so very much like angels, but it’s very hard to believe that to be true when you watch them.  Speaking of them fighting, I am addicted to their transformation/fight song “Fly Away” by Teddyloid.  It’s so catchy, I listen to it all the time.  In fact all the music from this series is really great.  Including Teddyloid other song “D City Rock” that the characters sing in one of the last episodes.  I could listen to their soundtrack forever.
The anime also makes many references to pop culture.  Like Garterbelt being a priest and liking little boys, even the character Chuck who has a striking resemblance to Invader Zim’s character Gir (while in his “disguise”).  It’s always fun watching something like this and picking up on all the different references.
This is absolutely a must watch anime.  In fact most have already seen it and if you haven’t you need to get on it.  If you haven’t seen it because you’re too young, then you have to wait until you age a bit.  But as soon as you’re old enough go watch this anime STAT!

I Love This Show – Jing: King of Bandits

I really do love this show.  It’s just so interesting and original.  Jing is a relatively young, so when I started watching it I figured he would be a kid wanting to become the King of Bandits.  Kind of like Luffy from One Piece wanting to be the King of the Pirates.  But no, he is the King of Bandits and he continuously succeeds is owning *everyone* he comes up against.
He gets into fights, and he wins.  He barely gets a scratch on him through out the whole series.  Almost nothing surprises him.  He can easily think his way out of a problem.  And he always gets what ever it was that he was aiming to steal.  I do realize that while talking about him he seems overly “perfect” and that is very often boring, however, this series makes it interesting.  Because in this anime it doesn’t become about “will he succeed?” but more along the lines of “how does he succeed?”  You know he’ll do it, and he’ll make it seem easy while he blows peoples minds, but no one ever has a clue how until he pulls it off.

I was actually a huge fan of his bird Kir from the series, who is also his weapon.  It’s a little strange, a bird also being a weapon, but it’s kind of cool and you really get into the who “Gimme a Kir Royal” during each of the battle scenes.  It’s a great battle strategy as well, because anyone who sees it spends the next moment going “WTF!?!”
This was such a fun anime to watch, and I have the manga series as well, I just need to finish reading it.  I’ve only just started reading this one.  I’m looking forward to it.

I actually was very obsessed with the character Jing for a while.  During my extending phase of owning a Gaia Online account I spent some time having my avatar cosplay Jing.  It actually didn’t look half bad if I say so myself.  It’s actually one of the few things I do miss from Gaia.  Oh well, c’est la vie.
