RIP Comic Con Co-Founder Richard Alf

Richard Alf, co-founder of Comic Con in San Diego, has passed away.

If you’ve ever seen pictures from the first comic con, you can appreciate what he’s done. All the costumes looked like they were made with love in someone’s basement after a marathon of Star Wars. Far from the spectacle it is today, Comic Con started out like all other small cons do.

Thank you Mr Alf for all your hard work. You’ve inspired many conventions and have allowed us to do full scale what we love. We are grateful for people like you, every time we’re sewing our cosplay the night before a con and moaning about how it doesn’t look nearly as nice as the store-bought cosplay, we look at the photos from the first comic con and remember why we love to cosplay. Thank you.
